同い年/ おないどし/ onaidoshi

Onaidoshi is originally “onaji toshi” , which means “the same age”.

But we usually say it as “onaidoshi “.

 私達は同い年です。

/ わたしたち は おないどし です。

/ Watashitachi wa onaidoshi desu.

Casual way to say “onaidoshi”

 

In casual situation, you can say “the same age” as “ タメ/ tame “.

 

Example1

Taro is the same age as Akiko.

 太郎はあきことタメ。

/ たろう は あきこ と ため。

/ Taro wa Akiko to tame.

 

Example2

A: How old are you now?

    / 今何歳?

    / いま なんさい?

    / Ima nansai?

B: 26.

     / 26だよ。

     / にじゅうろく だよ。

     / Nijuuroku dayo.

     / えっ、じゃあタメだね!

     / えっ じゃあ ため だね!
